Manchester United’s Ivan Perisic move takes a new twist
Manchester United target Ivan Perisic has left Inter Milan’s training camp ahead of the Italian club’s first pre-season match.
He was due to feature in today’s clash against Nuremberg but has departed due to a dental problem amid reports the Croatian is set to sign for the Reds.
It has been reported in Italy the 28-year-old winger has gone back to Croatia to see his personal dentist.
But there are suspicions about the timing of his exit from Inter’s warm-up programme trip and it has encouraged United.
A deal could be closer with manager Jose Mourinho admitting he still wants two more new faces in his Reds squad.
Inter, however, are fighting to keep Perisic and it is said they want either Matteo Darmian or Anthony Martial as part of the package for Perisic who they value at £50m.
Inter’s director of football Walter Sabatini said: “Will Perisic leave? I’ll say things as they are: (Inter boss Luciano) Spalletti wants to keep him.
“We want to keep him but we also want to keep who’s got the right motivations.
“Manchester United’s interest is strong but they know what we think and it’s Inter’s role to say how much the player costs.
“Spalletti has asked not to sell Perisic. He wants Perisic as one of his players because he is fantastic. Inter wouldn’t like to sell him, but at the same time the club doesn’t want to have an unhappy player.
“We hope Perisic will stay. If Perisic will leave, we want money and a player and we expect Perisic over these next days will show good behaviour.”
The dentist trip suggests Perisic might be ready to push for a move.
Inter move on for a tour of China and Singapore next week with their first match on July 21.
